Parts & Tools You'll Need
- Enzyme Drain Cleaner (Pipe-Safe)
- Hand-Crank Drain Auger / Snake (25 ft)
- Adjustable Wrench
- Bucket
Step-by-Step Manual
- Clear the basin and try a plunger first Remove any standing water with a cup, place a wet-rag plug in the second basin (if double), and plunge the clogged side firmly several times.
- Check and clean the P-trap Place a bucket underneath, then loosen the slip nuts on the P-trap under the sink by hand or with pliers. Empty and rinse out any lint, hair, or debris trapped inside.
- Snake the drain line If the trap was clear, feed a hand-crank drain auger into the drain opening, cranking clockwise while pushing gently until you feel the clog. Crank through it, then pull the snake back out.
- Reassemble the trap Reconnect the P-trap slip nuts hand-tight plus a quarter turn — don't overtighten plastic fittings.
- Flush and treat Run hot water for a minute to confirm free drainage, then pour in an enzyme drain cleaner per the label to break down residual buildup and help prevent the clog from returning.
