Step-by-Step Manual

  1. Remove the drain cover or stopper Unscrew or pry off the drain cover/strainer, or lift out the pop-up stopper assembly, depending on your drain type.
  2. Pull visible hair by hand Wearing gloves, pull out any hair wrapped around the stopper mechanism or sitting right at the drain opening.
  3. Snake the drain with the plastic hair tool Insert the barbed plastic snake straight down into the drain, push until you feel resistance, then rotate and pull it back out slowly to draw out the hair clog.
  4. Flush with hot water Run hot tap water down the drain for a minute or two to clear loosened debris and confirm the water now drains at normal speed.
  5. Treat monthly with enzyme cleaner Once flowing freely, pour in an enzyme-based drain cleaner per the label to break down residual soap scum and hair buildup — reapply monthly to prevent recurring clogs.
