- Cartridge Puller (for stuck cartridges)
Step-by-Step Manual
- Shut off water and plug the drain Turn off the hot and cold shutoff valves under the sink and plug the drain so small parts don't fall in.
- Remove the handle Pry off the decorative cap on top of the handle, unscrew the handle screw underneath, and lift the handle off.
- Remove the retaining clip or nut Depending on your faucet brand, either pull out a small retaining clip with needle-nose pliers or unscrew a retaining nut to free the cartridge.
- Pull out the old cartridge Grip the cartridge stem with pliers (protecting it with a rag) and pull straight up. If it's stuck from mineral buildup, use a cartridge puller tool.
- Install the new cartridge Lightly grease the new cartridge's O-rings, align its tabs/notches exactly as the old one was oriented, and push it firmly into place.
- Reassemble and test Reinstall the retaining clip/nut, handle, and decorative cap. Turn the water back on slowly and run the faucet through hot and cold to confirm the drip is gone and there's no leak at the base.
